About the Cambridge Diet

With more than 20 years experience, Cambridge Health Plan (CHP) offers a range of weight management programmes which can be suited to fit around you and your lifestyle.

At the core of all of these programmes is the Cambridge Diet, a nutritionally complete formula food, which can be used as a complete, nutritionally balanced substitute for normal food or in conjunction with a sensible eating plan.

Dr Alan Howard began working on the original Diet formula in the early 1970s. Through his research at the University of Cambridge and West Middlesex Hospital, London he developed what became known as the Cambridge Diet.

Eight years of research and clinical trials at hospitals such as Addenbrookes in Cambridge, Charing Cross and Guys in London and at the Universities of Swansea, Leeds and Liverpool followed to ensure that the Diet underwent rigorous testing to establish its efficacy and safety.

The success of these trials prompted the Cambridge Diet to be launched in the UK in 1984.

Since then more than 15 million people have used the Cambridge Diet worldwide and over the years the flavours have been improved and expanded.

The Cambridge Diet is classed as a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD). This sector is the most researched within the entire diet industry.

With its 20th Anniversary coming up next year, the Cambridge Diet continues to go from strength to strength.

It truly is TRIED, TESTED, TRUSTED
